In a sense that may be true. Your
outward life may be as exemplary as the lives of many church members.
You will not be saved, however, because you are good, neither will
you be lost because you are bad, but because you accept or reject
Jesus Christ.
"Jesus cried and said, He that
believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he
that seeth me seeth him that sent me. I am come a light into the
world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I
came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth
me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word
that I have spoken, the same shall judge him In the last day."
-John. 12:44-48.
"For what saith the Scripture?
Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of
debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that
justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."
-Rom. 4:3-5.
"For by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not
of works, lest any man should boast." -Eph. 2:8-9.
"He that believeth and is
baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall he damned."
-Mark 16:16.
